About the Dancers
Tanya Bello
Tanya Bello graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in Dance. After graduating, she was the Assistant & Liaison at the Library of Congress to the Artistic Director of the Martha Graham Co. She also danced professionally with Rincones & Company Dance Theatre and with several other choreographers and companies in the Washington, DC area. In 2004, she lived in Italy and danced for Arya Theat'art Danza Compagna. In 2005, she moved to the Bay Area and has recently worked with Robert Moses' Kin, Shift Physical Theater, and Mark Foehringer Dance Project. This is Tanya's first season with Janice Garrett & Dancers.
Jennifer Bishop-Orsulak
Jennifer Bishop-Orsulak grew up dancing by the sea in Charleston, South Carolina. She decided to pursue her dream of being a dancer after watching the Martha Graham Dance Company perform. After dancing at the University of Utah, she moved back east to the Big Apple, where she danced professionally with H.T. Chen & Dancers, an Asian-American modern dance company. She also danced with Sarah Hook, Janis Brenner, Della Davidson, Alan Sener, Risa Steinberg and apprenticed with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Co. While on a bus in NYC, she met her husband and they moved to SF. Currently, Jennifer has a Pilates studio where she teaches. Since moving to San Francisco Jennifer apprenticed with ODC, performed with Mary Carbonara Dances and, since 2004, has been a member of Janice Garrett & Dancers.
Kaitlyn Ebert
Kaitlyn Ebert began dancing at the age of six in Gainesville, Florida. She has studied at the Joffrey Ballet School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School, North Carolina Dance Theater School, and the LINES Ballet School. Upon receiving her BFA in Dance from the University of South Florida in 2005, she moved to San Francisco, briefly continuing her studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan. Since then she has performed and worked with Alex Ketley, Robert Moses, Kara Davis of Project Agora, Mark Foehringer, Holly Johnston, and, most recently, Janice Garrett & Dancers.
Dudley Flores
Dudley Flores is a native of San Francisco and started dancing in high school musical theater. Since then he's expanded his movement vocabulary and has had the opportunity to work (and play) with Charles Moulton, Paco Gomes & Dancers, David Schrag and Micaya. Currently, he works with the Printz Dance Project and RAWdance, is the Artistic Director of the Rhythm & Motion Dance Workout Program at ODC Dance Commons, and is thrilled to be working with Janice Garrett & Dancers. Offstage, he explores the world through photography, nature studies, blogging, people watching and reality TV.
Heidi Schweiker
Heidi Schweiker has choreographed, performed, taught and costumed for dance in the Bay Area since 1997. She has been a member of Janice Garrett & Dancers since 2000, is a current member of Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, and has also performed with Mary Carbonara Dances, Nancy Karp + Dancers and in the work of choreographer Lea Wolf. Her own choreography has been presented by Summerfest/dance, Theatre of Yugen/Noh Space, ODC Theater, Yerba Buena Arts & Events, the Southwest American College Dance Festival, as well as through choreographic commissions from her alma mater Stanford University. In April, 2006, Heidi teamed up with Kara Davis and Bliss Kohlmyer Dowman to present Open Ground, an evening of works by these three choreographers. Heidi teaches beginning modern dance at San Francisco Dance Center.
Nol
Simonse
Nol grew up in and around Washington, D.C. He began dancing at age 9 with Alison Miller and continued his training at the Boston Conservatory of Music. He is a founding member of Kunst-Stoff and has been a member of Stephen Pelton Dance Theatre since 2000 and Janice Garrett & Dancers since 2002. He has collaborated with many San Francisco artists including Eric Kupers, Andrew Ramer, and Lori B. His own work has been shown at Dance Mission, The Jon Sims Center, and Chuck Ream’s Windswept Ranch. Nol teaches modern, ballet, creative movement and choreography to youth and teens at Dance Mission, ODC, and Dance Attack.
